IRL have implemented the following innovation that not only reduces the health and safety risks to an acceptable level but, in their application are reasonable, practicable and of benefit to users:
Safety is of paramount importance to IRL and working with suppliers, contractors and client to seek out new working methods and equipment will deliver solutions that benefit us all.
IRL review accident investigations, AFR, HSE accident statistical data, near miss and hazard Identification trends to determine where innovative measures are required to reduce the risk of harm. IRL have taken this information to a new level and whilst they have acted upon Noise and Dust Risk Assessments they have now implemented new health surveillance procedures to include more frequent hearing tests. They have achieved this by investing in an Audiology Booth.
The Acoustic Integrity of the Audiology Booth has be designed for the use of screening Audiometry tests and has been positioned in a secluded room that has been designed specifically for our Occupational Health Nurse.
The Audiometric Booth employs an outer skin of polyester painted steel and an inner face of specially perforated polyester painted galvanised steel. The integral acoustic absorbent infill is inert and non-combustible and is retained between the inner and outer skins forming the acoustic panels.
The finished panel thickness is 50mm thick and due to the bonded construction of the panel’s forms a uniform mass enhanced Acoustic Booth.
Prehistorically organising hearing tests proved quite difficult as the mobile testing booth was only available during certain times and scheduling this in with numerous contracts spread across the country was no mean feat. IRL employees can now be tested on a regular basis when they are booked in to see the occupational nurse.
IRL Group has extended the scope of “The Good Flooring Guide” to include a colour chart offering a range of popular colours and supplied under our “Standard” Range – many other colours are available (including RAL, BS, & Pantone) to order, and come in a variety of finishes, meaning not only can you get a guide as to the typical cost of a resin floor, but also choose the colour at the same time!
The Easter shutdown period has again been extremely busy for IRL Group Limited. We successfully completed works for Clients where the need for continuous production is a must and windows for production to cease are limited to shutdown periods. Our Clients come to us because they know they can rely on us being prompt and efficient causing minimal disruption to their working patterns.

At the FeRFA Awards Dinner at the Belfry Hotel this month our apprentices took to the stage to receive their NVQ Level 2 Diplomas, FeRFA certificates and ID badges from Terry Foxley, the FeRFA trainer.
The two year scheme involves a great commitment from both the employer and apprentice trainee, and celebrating this achievement is the highlight of the evening.
Guest presenters Ray Stubbs and Mark Lawrenson welcomed the apprentice graduates from Resin Groups 5 and 6 and Surface Preparation Groups 3 and 4:
Our apprentices achieving the NVQL2 in In Situ Resin Flooring were: Mark Whitworth, Alan McAlinden and Jason McAlinden.
Training is an excellent way to share best practice, knowledge and skills which in turn raises quality standards within an industry sector. Apprenticeship courses attract newcomers to the industry, introduce new skills and move the industry forward, to give clients confidence that they are dealing with a trained and qualified workforce. Resin flooring and surface preparation are highly specialist occupations and through the FeRFA Apprenticeship Schemes, a training route is available to acquire knowledge and skills to achieve the NVQ Level 2 Diploma.
We are delighted to announce the following achievements in the FeRFA Apprenticeship Schemes:
Our Three apprentices (in the 5th resin group on the FeRFA scheme) have completed their two-year apprenticeship and achieved their NVQ Level 2 Diploma in In Situ Resin Flooring.
Congratulations go to: JASON MCALINDEN, ALAN MCALINDEN and MARK WHITWORTH.
All the successful apprentices who complete their training this year will be invited to attend the Annual Dinner on Friday 9 November at the Belfry Hotel. At the ceremony all the graduates will be presented with a framed certificate as well as their FeRFA ID badge and certificate.
