University - Resin Coating – Reflecting Pond

So when we were approached by the University to apply a resin coating to the Reflecting Pond at the Design School. Having carried out numerous areas within the client’s facility and knowing the high standards they demand we were more than happy to oblige.
Having discussed the issues with the client we took advice from the material manufacturer, Reepol Ltd, who suggested we use Reecote EC014 as they had experienced previous success with this product in similar environments.
Reecote EC014 is based on a blend of epoxy resins, curing agents, mineral fillers and solvent. Reecote EC014 is supplied in pre-weighed containers to ensure correct on-site mixing. It is available in a wide range of colours. It provides an attractive, dust free, chemical and abrasion resistant floor coating.

We prepared the existing concrete slab by a suitable combination of concrete planing, diamond grinding and STR light mechanical abrading containing all dust and debris in sealed containers. Then primed the previously prepared substrate with Reepol EP 550 Epoxy Resin Primer applied by roller and brush. Followed by supply and apply by roller and brush three coats of Reepol ECO14 Solvent based epoxy resin.
With no major issues or difficulties incurred IRL were able to complete the project on programme and within budget. All parties were delighted with the finish.
